We offer a variety of accommodations for up to 40 guests, including six yomes, two yurts, and four climate-controlled barn rooms.
Before and after your special event, you and your guests can enjoy all the land has to offer. Walk barefoot through the garden, share stories around the campfire, and sleep under the stars to a serenade of crickets, chorus frogs, and barred owls.

Extend your celebration at Sanctuary Farm with an exclusive two-night farm stay for your guests, available only an add-on to your special event or as a part of our Weekend Wedding Packages.

We have a no-pet policy at Sanctuary Farm due to our farm animals and sanitation requirements inside of buildings.
Yes. We have WiFi at the barn (open WiFi, no password) that works great that your guests can use to call Uber/Lyfts. We've never had any trouble with folks getting to/from Sanctuary Farm using these rideshare apps.
Our address is 8519 Pickards Meadow Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. When you turn right off Jo Mac Rd onto Pickards Meadow Rd, follow the signs to Sanctuary Farm and the Eco-Institute (this is the non-profit that does its work at Sanctuary Farm). Go under the overhead sign at the fork in the road (it becomes a gravel road). Parking is next to the renovated barn.
The renovated horse barn is our main indoor gathering space. Former horse stalls have been converted into overnight rooms as well as a main gathering space which contains a large kitchen, dining area, small library, living room, laundry, and four bathrooms (one with a shower). Upstairs, formerly a hay loft, has been converted into two gathering spaces including a conditioned reception/yoga/dance-studio like area we call “the Finished Barn Loft,” and an open-air space with a built-in stage that we call “the Rustic (Barn) Loft.” There is a lovely porch just outside the doors to the barn, with outdoor showers available as well.
Our event staff will assist with directing parking. We have parking lots on both sides of the barn as well as overflow parking along the road. We strongly encourage carpooling! There are handicap accessible parking spaces 30 feet from the barn.
The yomes at Sanctuary Farm are yurt/dome hybrids built on raised platforms. They receive their distinction from the geodesic frame supporting their canvas walls. These canvas and wood octagonal structures allow for rustic, yet comfortable living. The yomes are connected by pathways and nestled in the forest, affectionately referred to as the Yome Village.
Cell phone service is limited at Sanctuary Farm.
Yes, we have an open Wifi at the barn (Name: EISF) that does not require a password.
Yes, all of the water on our property comes from our well. Enjoy fresh water straight from the faucet!
We do not have ice. Please bring the ice you will need. We do have a chest freezer you can store it in.
Rain gear/umbrella, bug spray, sunscreen, hats, outdoor comfortable attire/shoes, toiletries for shower, and a flashlight or headlamp, and a sleeping bag if sleeping in a yome or yurt during the colder months.
There are 4 indoor flush toilets inside the barn. Two are upstairs and two are downstairs. One of the bathrooms downstairs in the barn is ADA accessible.
There are 3 outdoor toilets (one near the barn, one near the yurts and one at the entrance to the yome village)
There is one indoor shower inside the barn and two outdoor showers, all with hot water.
There are many good restaurant and grocery options 8-12 min away. Quick grocery needs can be found at Bravo’s Mexican Market or Food Lion. For extensive groceries and some prepared foods (sandwiches, sushi, soups, heat-and-eat meals, bakery, hot bar), we recommend Weaver Street Market, a natural foods cooperative grocery. Nearby Chapel Hill/Carrboro has a variety of options for dining out, as well as Saxapahaw. Some of our favorites include the Saxapahaw General Store, Fiesta Grill, Luna Empanadas, and Spotted Dog.
We are an outdoor venue that is part of a larger ecosystem. Mosquitos are a part of that, however we find that they are often not a nuisance to our guests on the land. Feel free to bring insect repellent if that is a concern for you.
Yes, guests with babies are welcome to stay in the barn rooms.
